Reciprocity
The heart of Shipibo Joi has been reciprocal right action since its inception. Shipibo Joi, and our allied organizations, have worked as partners with Shipibo Konibo communities to support regenerative environmental solutions, youth projects, medical care, sanitation projects, language promotion and more since 2011. Reciprocity generates reconciliation for old ways of being as we focus on a more balanced and respectful world. In this spirit, as allies and friends of the Jonikon, we ask you to participate with us in true reciprocity, ayni, as we create the kind of balanced world we want for future generations.
CONCERNING TRADITIONAL MEDICINE PLANTS AND SUSTAINABILITY
The worldwide use of traditional medicine plants from the Amazon jungle has helped to awaken many people to a more authentic connection with themselves, Mother Earth and the Divine. As industrialized/colonized persons reach into the Amazon for healing, the Amazon is being stripped of plant medicines to supply global demand at an alarming rate while ancestral knowledge is monetized for outsider profit. Too often, the caretakers of the Amazon are forgotten and exploited. Cultural appropriation further diminishes the integrity of people and place. Perpetuating the same environmental and social injuries of the colonial past is not sustainable nor is it in right action for the kind of world we hope to nurture for future generations.
