Kené Néte

Kené Néte is the Shipibo-Konibo name for a collective of young artisans and fashion designers that blend traditional Shipibo Kene, ancestral geometric design, with contemporary fashion. The primary purpose of this project is to create economic opportunities for youth while honoring the rich cultural heritage of the Shipibo-Konibo.

The program offers training in national and international marketing, fashion design, and surface design techniques such as silk screen printing. The emphasis is on sustainable fashion and fair exchange.

Kené Néte shared their beautiful fashion designs with participants in our most recent Amazon Awakening program. They also created beautiful customized clothing for our participants. This project is overseen by Alianza Arkana, a partner NGO with Shipibo Joi.
